While scrolling through my Facebook timeline, I see messages of “success.” Most of the stories speed through the difficult times to focus on much happier experiences of living the “dream life.” Even in our everyday conversations with other people, we briefly mention the challenging times and make sure to get to the good moments quickly.
I’ve enjoyed sharing my experiences with you and what I’ve learned from my love of tea. There’s a final process that has shaped who I am as a person: the stirring process. Once you’ve found your favorite tea, allowing it to steep, then the stirring process seals the deal. This is the point where we create a refreshing flavor that is soothing to the soul. This is also the part of the process that I’ve found myself in presently.
Have you ever tried to charge your phone, but forgot to plug it in? When you needed to connect the most, maybe to pass the time on a long trip or during a break, your battery losses power and eventually your phone will shut down. Recently, I found my battery low and looked down to see, “Hey, I didn’t connect it!” My phone was connected to the cord but my cord wasn’t connected to the outlet. No wonder it continued to stay the same!
I don’t always share my feelings very well; especially when it comes to expressing my feelings of inadequacy. Sometimes I do not feel that I am enough! Usually, my honesty is met by gasps, surprised looks, and well-meaning words.
Before facing my own pain, I thought it was safe to hide in the pews. I won’t forget the Sunday I had enough with God. As a praise and worship leader, you want people to enjoy service. I had reached a breaking point, and all I could do was cry.
Do you ever wonder if God is in charge? Have you found yourself questioning God’s control in your everyday life? It is very easy to say that we believe God when everything works “perfectly.” It is a little more challenging when life is full of interesting twists and turns.
